Q2 game - Again forgot to make a playable loop

To recap, I'm trying to follow these three steps:
1) have a player character in an empty room, make sure the movement feels right
2) core gameplay loop, should be satisifying and fun
3) expand, adding larger loops of gameplay and other game elements

We're now two months into this quarter and again, I havent made the core gameplay loop yet.

Progress has been good. I have a player character that navigates rooms and shoots enemies that spawn and move around.
But there is no core gameplay loop.
I havent implemented player health or enemy attacks yet.
So I dont have anything to show for.
I cant add the game to Itch and start getting player feedback, there is no core gameplay loop yet.
It's not in a playable state.

This something I really need to work on.
Player feedback is important.
A solid core gameplay loop is important.

Sure, I've done very useful stuff.
But  if there isnt something someone can play, then I didnt make a game, I just tinkered with code.

I learned and I'm slowly getting better, but it's just tinkering still.
I really need to stay on track and stick to the three steps.

If I'm making a game every quarter, then the core gameplay loop should be there after the first month.
Then there's two months for expanding and player feedback.
Then I would be making a game.

Eventually, if I do that every quarter, I'll make a decent game. Maybe even a good game.
But for now, I've just been tinkering.

Hopefully I can get the game for this quarter back on track and have a playable loop by next week.
